About | COLOMA, MI: Richard L. Roberts, 79, of Coloma, passed away suddenly Sunday, May 1, 2011 at home. Dick was born on November 18, 1931 in Zanesville, Ohio; one of five children of Roy and Nora (Kinney) Roberts. After graduating from Lash High School, Dick served in the U.S. Army-Airborne Division. On February 22, 1953 he married the former Verna Doyle. The couple lived in Zanesville prior to moving to Coloma where they resided for the past forty-one years. Dick worked at Essex Wire Corp. and Miller Electronics as a foreman. He then worked for Leco Corp. in St. Joseph as a machinist for twelve years prior to retiring in 1997. Dick began each morning meeting with the guys at McDonald's for coffee. He also enjoyed woodworking, spending time outside and traveling, but most of all he loved being with his family. He was a member of the Baroda Church of God for 47 years. Dick is survived by his wife, Verna; sons, Gregory (Jean) Roberts of Paw Paw, MI and Bryce (Lori) Roberts of Graniteville, SC; his daughter, Christina (John) Witt of Covert, MI; sisters, Barbara (Clayton) Power and Faye Bee, all of Zanesville, Ohio and Frances Boyd of Fullerton, CA; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Linda. Burial will be at Coloma Cemetery |
