Richard P. (Dick) Coffey, 85 of McConnelsville passed away at 5:50 a.m. Saturday February 20, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born September 5, 1935 in Zanesville the son of the late, Patrick A. Coffey and Wava Harmon Coffey. Dick was a former agent with Prudential Insurance Co. in McConnelsville for 30 years. He was a graduate of Lash High School in Zanesville, a Member and Elder of the Church of the Gospel Ministry in McConnelsville, 32nd degree mason of the Corinthian Lodge F&AM of McConnelsville, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Morgan Shrine Club, honorary member of Clemente Amitie Lodge 285 F&AM of Rienersville. Dick had performed many Masonic funerals for his Masonic brothers over the years. He worked for Morgan Meadows Mobile Home Sales. He was a former Ohio Reads Volunteer, and was a fund raiser for the Babe Ruth Little League. Dick enjoyed fishing and the Cleveland Indians and loved to tell a good joke. He played baseball for the Zanesville Blue Devils. He coached Little League Baseball. He played fast pitch softball on various teams. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Anita K. Ropeter Coffey; his children, Amy (Kim) Tabler of Cannonsburg, Pa, Kelly Coffey of Zanesville, Peggy (Lance) Lawyer of Blue Rock, and Casey (Erin) Coffey of New Lexington; grandchildren, Cassie, Brandon, Amanda, Katelyn, Hadley and Kobe; four great grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Osborne of Zanesville, Jane Tignor of Dallas, Texas, and Judy Archer of Dublin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Cook and Helen King; and a brother, Rolland Coffey. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Church of the Gospel Ministry in McConnelsville where Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. He will be laid to rest in McConnelsville Cemetery. |
