About Ricky Dean “Chief” Shinn, 77, of Zanesville, passed away on Saturday October 11, 2025 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born on October 14, 1947 in Zanesville, a son of the late Harold and Lahoma (Moody) Shinn. He served in the United States Navy for 26 years. He was a Master Chief Petty Officer, served on the U.S.S. Kennedy, traveled to seven countries, lived up and down the east coast at various naval bases. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. He is survived by three daughters Rhonda Cravenor, Elayna (Shinn)Bauer, and Vanita McCrea. Five grandchildren Jared Cravenor, Kara Keiffer, Tae’Shaune Shinn, Jae’Ceaune Shinn, and Trinity Bauer. Two great-grandchildren. One brother Jack Shinn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Randy Shinn and Harold Shinn, one son Adam Shinn, one granddaughter Kaylee Cravenor.

Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday October 14, 2025 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 21, 2025 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Pastor Dick Newlon officiating and Zanesville VFW Post #1058 will conduct military honors.
