About | Rita Jean (Hale) Gains, 87, of Zanesville, passed away on her birthday, February 20, 2017 in Zanesville, Ohio. Rita was born February 20, 1930 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Elma and Joseph Hale. She graduated from Lash High School. Rita married Kenny on June 26, 1949 and had three children that loved her dearly. She was the matriarch of the family and her home was where family and friends gathered and celebrated many good times. Rita’s cousins, Chuck and Marsha aptly nicknamed her the “Queen of the Muskingum”. She loved spending time with her family, motor home traveling, watching movies and square dancing. Rita was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian. Rita is preceded in death by her parents Elma and Joe; husband, Kenneth Gains; daughter, Tara Dyer and granddaughter, Shanda Gains. Rita is survived by her sons, Jeff (Cindy) and Mark (Colleen), grandchildren Cory (Beth), Chad (Sara), Nicole, Marissa, Stefan, Gabrielle, Emma, Maria (Jason) and Matthew; great grandchildren, Connor, Bella, Peyton, Sam, Anna, Noah, Emily, and Judd; and her lifelong best friend Louise (Joe) McElhaney. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her caregiver and friend, Jody White and Hospice of Central Ohio, especially nurses Anita and Sharon. Friends and family may call from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 24 2017 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE and one hour prior to the funeral service to be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, with Rev. Dennis Allison officiating. She will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. |
