About | Robert Arnold Ater, 73, of Zanesville, died at 5:47 am, Wednesday, September 16, 1998, at Bethesda Hospital. Born January 18, 1925, in Perry County, he was a graduate of Zanesville High School in 1942 and a Navy veteran of WWII serving in the South Pacific. He was retired general foreman of Armco and a member of American Legion Post 29, Elks BPOE 114, Armco Veterans, Grace Methodist Church and a life member of VFW. He served on the boards of the Girl Scouts, Grace Church and the Community Center. Surviving are his wife, Susan P. Ater; a daughter, Sandra K. Fields of Trenton; one son, Jeffery C. Ater of Lilburn, GA; five grandchildren; a great grandchild; and a sister, Betty L. Pletcher of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles F. and Ethel Houk Ater. |
