About | Robert Dudley Goodrich, 86 NEWARK - Robert Dudley Goodrich, 86, of Heath, died Feb. 28, 2008, at Licking Memorial Hospital. Mr. Goodrich was born March 3, 1921, in Jackson, to the late Russell and Emma Jean Goodrich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Ann Goodrich; his wife of 10 years, Joann Hostetter Goodrich; and an infant son, Keith. He is survived by two sons, Robert D. II (Virginia) Goodrich of Zanesville and Douglas A. (Betsy) Goodrich of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Dorothy Ann (Max) Shanley of Wheeling, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Goodrich of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; and a special friend, Alice Copas. Mr. Goodrich attended Zanesville City Schools and was a graduate of Lash High where he was class president and All-Ohio in football and basketball. He was a graduate of Denison University, where he was president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He played varsity football for four years and won the Gregory Award as a senior. Mr. Goodrich served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a lieutenant on a LST. He saw extensive duty in the South Pacific. His entire working career was with National Cash Register, where he served as a branch manager in Wheeling, Mansfield and Cincinnati. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Memorial contributions may be made to Zanesville High School Stadium Renovation, 1701 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
