About | A memorial service for Robert "Bob" Louis Volland will take place Saturday, July 23, 10 a.m., at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave. with Minister Dee Krier officiating. Bob was born November 23, 1948 in Zanesville. He graduated Zanesville High School in 1967 and went to Manpower Trade School in Jackson where he was class valedictorian. He was employed as a machinist by Nutter Machine in Kirkersville. While a machinist by trade, Bob was known worldwide as a farmer who believed in mentoring others to promote organic farming. He raised rabbits, goats and chickens for 4-H youth to exhibit in area fairs. Bob volunteered in animal rescue for 30 years finding homes for countless unwanted dogs, cats and horses, often keeping many that had been abused. Bob worked tirelessly to save the endangered Butternut Tree even naming his farm Butternut Farms Retreat. Bob enjoyed western movies, roller skating, bowling, euchre, motorcycle riding, shooting pool, deep sea fishing with his son, line dancing and square dancing. Bob was an avid traveler having visited 32 countries and 47 states. He was an ordained minister and offered a helping hand to those in need. Bob was a wonderful and supportive husband to his wife of 37 years, Patricia A. West-Volland; a proud loving father to his son, Paul Aaron (Andrea) Volland of Virginia Beach; and a loving grandfather to his grandson, William Aaron Volland of Virginia Beach. Bob was a son to his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Norma and Richard Baker of Roseville; a cheerful friend to sister-in-laws, Rosabeth (Reinhart) Dorfhuber of Carpentaria, California and Brenda (Dave) Zienta of Zanesville, and brother-in-laws, Terry West of West Virginia, and Rodger (Patty) West of Zanesville. Bob was a proud uncle to nephews, Kyle (Heather) Hittle, Kody Hittle and Everett West of Zanesville; nieces, Stephanie (Jake) Glasmire of Zanesville, Natasha Dorfhuber of Carpentaria, California and Misty West of West Virginia. Bob was a big brother to his sister, Sally Ziemer of Zanesville. He was the "pack leader" to his two faithful canine companions, Sassy and Brownie. |
