About Robert “Bob” Leon Grissett, 89, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully following a brief illness at Becket House in New Concord, Thursday, September 15, 2022 . Bob was born June 6, 1933, in Zanesville, the son of Robert Lee & Effie (McKnight) Grissett, and married Cheryl E. (Baldwin) Grissett on November 1, 1974.



Bob was a 1951 graduate of Lash High School. While a student, he stocked groceries, worked at the Lind Arena fixing skates, and mowed the grass of ladies whose husbands were in the war refusing to take any money.

He was employed with Ohio Power, Central Ohio Coal, and retired from the Mine Safety Health Administration as a Surface Mine Inspector. Following his retirement, he spent many hours traveling and teaching continuing education and mine safety classes.



Bob loved baseball, coaching and teaching his sons the game. He was a Y-City Midget Baseball League Coach, Coach of the National League All Stars, and a member of the Muskingum Valley Old Timers Association.



Bob was a hard worker and gave 110 percent in anything he did. He enjoyed golf, and was a member of Jaycees Golf League. Bob, along with Cheryl, were owners of C&B Ceramics, members of Zanes and Janes Square Dance Club, and delivered meals for Christ Table with their grandson, Seth.

Bob was a very active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was Sunday School Superintendent for many years, taught 5th Grade Sunday School for over 12 years, and could always be seen helping his wife with dinners and activities.



In addition to his wife, Cheryl Grissett, Bob is survived by five sons, Douglas (Lori) Grissett of Lore City, Scott (Pam) Grissett of Coshocton, Todd (Debbie) Grissett of Nashport, Brent (Sue) Grissett and Robert J. (Trish) Grissett both of Zanesville; fourteen grandchildren, Jessica May, Amanda Grissett, Christy (John) Rome, Misty (Zach) Frazier, Ellie Pollock, Melissa (Jimmie) McMillan, Kimberly (Kyle Myers) Starling, Chasity Grissett, Wesley Grissett, Matt (Niki) Untied, Melissa (Brent) Markley, Amanda (Jacob) Preston, Seth Grissett, Anthony Perkins, Jakob Perkins, Aidan Perkins, and Jaxon Grissett; several great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia (Rod) Krause.



Friends may call 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Visitation will also be held 10:30 AM untill time of service, Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 128 South Seventh Street, Zanesville, where funeral services will follow at 11:30 AM, with Pastor Andrew Wilson officiating. Bob will be laid to rest in Zanesville Memorial Park
