Date of Birth Feb 10, 1942
Date of Passing Nov 18, 2024
About Robert (Bob) Carl Seyerle, age 82, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor.

Born on February 10, 1942, in Zanesville, Ohio, Bob was the eldest of six siblings. He graduated from Zanesville High School in 1960, where he played saxophone in the band and The Blue Knights and was on the track team. He pursued higher education at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Bob began law school at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque but left to embark on a career in information technology at the dawn of the computer age in 1964. Over his decades-long career, Bob worked for, among others, Cummins Diesel and the Franklin County Auditor’s Office, where he ultimately retired.

Bob’s commitment to the Boy Scouts of America extended far beyond his youth. He remained active in the organization as a dedicated volunteer and leader, mentoring young scouts and serving in various leadership roles within the organization. His efforts embodied the values of Scouting, and he took great pride in helping others achieve their own goals and develop into leaders.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alex; his children, Kris (Ed) Giebel, Carl (Dawn) Seyerle, John (Maria) Seyerle, and Kathy Seyerle; his grandchildren, Hanna, Keegan (Veronica), Olivia, Lindsay, Jesse, Anna, and Leo; and great-grandchildren, Atlas and Saben. He also leaves behind his siblings, Bill (Beth) Seyerle, Charlene Mount, Marlene (Marc) Henderson, and Karen (Rick) Graves, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Carl L. Seyerle, and Charles and Alice L. Kelly (Booth); his sister and brother-in-law, Sharen and Ronald Hunter; his brother-in-law, Larry; and his nephew, Doug.

Bob and Alex were devoted members of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church after moving to the Columbus area in 1998. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and found joy in the fellowship of his community.

Bob will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his love of family, and his unwavering kindness. A lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan, he relished cheering on the team, as well as following various ice hockey teams. He loved puzzles, war movies, documentaries, and Civil War books, often immersing himself in the history and stories of the past.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on December 7, 2024, at 1:00 PM at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 7521 S. Old State Rd., Lewis Center, OH 43035.
