| About | ZANESVILLE - Robert Eric Smith "Big E," 51, of Columbus, died at 4:35 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, following a sudden illness. He was born on Tuesday, July 24, 1956, in Zanesville. He was a 1974 graduate of Zanesville High School, where he participated in football, track and field and held the track and field discus record and was known as Big E. He was employed with the Breck's Asphalt Paving Co. and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served eight years in Germany. He is survived by his parents, Robert B. and Starley McKeown Smith of Zanesville; a sister, Becky (Mike) Smith Wisecarver of Zanesville; and a nephew, Will Wisecarver of Zanesville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2008, at the funeral home, with Pastor Marc Caton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. |
