Robert L. Sommers, Jr. Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1985
Date of Passing Aug 27, 2022
About Robert L. Sommers, Jr., 55, of Plain City, Ohio, went to be with The Lord after a long battle with a rare liver disease and cancer. He was born December 5, 1966 and passed away August 27, 2022 at home, under hospice care, surrounded by several of his loved ones. He was a beloved husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law, nephew, friend, co-worker and employee.

He is survived by his wife, Marcie J. (Russell) Sommers, of 20 years; daughters, Brooklyn (Culver) Predmore and Briana (Culver) Green; parents, Robert "Bob" and Karen (Baker) Sommers; brother, Brent (Nancy) Sommers; niece, Alexis Sommers; aunts, uncles and cousins; step-grandfather; and many others who cared for him. Robert was always referred to as "Bobby" by the Sommers family.

Some of his favorite activities and hobbies included playing his keyboard, hunting, snow and water skiing, traveling, vacationing, camping and being with family. He was a very loyal employee of Hobby Lobby since 2005, and worked his way up to district manager from 2013-present. Prior to that, Robert worked for Big Bear for 18 years and a few other jobs afterward, before making his final career choice. He was also owner/operator of his own in-home music recording studio years ago.

Robert had a smile that could light up a room, along with a highly infectious laugh, and made many friends in his journey through life. It was always clear that he was a very happy Christian man who loved life.

A "celebration of life" funeral service will be held at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., in Zanesville, September 2, 2022. Calling hours will be held from 11am-1pm and funeral service will follow. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
