| About | Robert L. Garrett killed in Vietna of October 20, 1968.. Born November 20, 1948, the son of James Robert Garrett and Mary Elizabeth (Ruby) Garrett. Survived by siblings, Samuel, Thomas, James, Brandie, and Deborah. Private First Class Robert L. Garrett, Marine Corps Debbie Garrett Templin was 18 when her brother died. "I was at home with the other kids when a Marine showed up at our door," Templin said. "They loaded us all up and took us down to the Holiday Inn where my mom was working. It was there that they told us Bobby was killed." Robert Garrett was passionate about the Marines. He enlisted on Dec. 5, 1967, following his high school graduation. To the best of her recollection, Templin said her brother was sent to San Diego for training before his departure to Vietnam on May 27, 1968. |
