Robert W. Wheeler Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1975
Date of Passing Nov 07, 2012
About Robert (Bob) W. Wheeler, 55, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 7, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 22, 1956 in Zanesville, a son of Gerald (Cy) and Betty (Allen) Wheeler. He was a 1975 graduate of Zanesville High School. He owned and operated Bob Wheeler Painting for 14 years. He began working in the painting business at the age of 15 for Dale Mowrey Painting, working with his father. Bob was a great son, brother, uncle and friend to all who loved and knew him. He refused to allow his disabilities from his cancer at the age of 24 to limit him. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kindness and generosity he showed to all who knew him. He had a smile and wink that could brighten anyone’s day.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his sister, Teresa (Teri) and Greg Mitchell, special nieces Kara (Mitchell) and Ryan Schockling and Kinsley Mitchell, many aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends Steve Morgan and Tim Jordan, and his faithful canine companion, Camo.

Bob was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Howard (Ted) and Dorothy Allen, and paternal grandparents, Elton and Helen Wheeler.

He was a member of The Old Trail Hunt Club where he handled hunting licensures for Muskingum County, and organizing hunter safety courses. He was a member of The National Rifle Association, The National Turkey Federation, and the Malta Lodge Norwich. He enjoyed hunting trips, NASCAR and dirt track racing, taking his dogs for rides on his rhino, and spending time with family and friends. Over the past year, he enjoyed attending quarter horse shows supporting his nieces, Kara and Kinsley, as they showed their quarter horse, “Ellie,” at the major National Snaffle Bit Association and Ohio Quarter Horse shows.
