About | Ronald W. Mason, age 81, of New Delaware Road, Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Knox Community Hospital. He was born on June 13, 1929 in Berkeley, California to the late George and Mary Louise (Miller) Mason. He was a graduate of Lash High School in Zanesville Class of 1947, got his Bachelor and Master degrees from The Ohio State University in 1952 and 1959. Ronald was employed as the Personnel Manager at Cooper-Bessemer from 1960 -1966 and later became the owner and manager of Mount Vernon Personnel Services from 1966 - 1983. He was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, Amvets Post 95 Sad Sacks, the American Legion Post 92, Utica, the Masonic Lodge in Zanesville, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus Consistory. Ronald was the founder and Executive Director of the Junior Achievement program in Mount Vernon from 1967 - 1972. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and planting trees. Ronald was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 - 1954 and served in the Army Reserves for over 16 years. He is survived by his wife, of nearly 59 years, Betty (Darling) Mason of Mount Vernon; his daughter Cindy (Robert) Yost of Reynoldsburg; his son Richard (Kimberly) Mason of Reynoldsburg; four grandchildren, Ashley Yost, Kelsey Yost, Brock Mason, Brady Mason; a sister Betty (Donald) Franks of Noblesville, IN; a brother Robert (Marcia) Mason of Zanesville; a brother-in-law Ted Gates of Zanesville and several Nieces and Nephews. Besides his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his sister Grace Gates. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran�s Council, will be in Friendship Cemetery in Mount Vernon. |
