About | Rufus J. Wittlinger, 90, of Zanesville, died at 11:27 p.m. Fri. July 18, 2014 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born on October 8, 1923 in Zanesville a son of the late Charles and Clyta Silvus Wittlinger. He graduated from Lash High School in 1941. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was a retired mould maker at Brockway Glass. He was an active booster and scorekeeper for Zanesville High School athletics for many years. He was also a member of Zanesville Christian Missionary Alliance. He is survived by one daughter, Vicki (Phil) Turner; grandson, Eric (Lynsay) Turner; granddaughter, Gretchen (Steve) Newsom; five great grandchildren: Maddox, Carter, Gage, Michael and Blake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Wittlinger; two brothers: Eugene and Lee. No calling hours will be observed. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday July 22, 2014 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage. Rev. Bob Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park. |
