About | Russell E. Swope, 68, of Zanesville died at 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Genesis Hopice Morrison House. He was born on August 26, 1950 in Zanesville, a son of the late Russell E. and Thelma Hiles Swope. He was a supervisor for the Muskingum County Job and Family Services. Russ was an active member of Market Street Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the Board, taught as Sunday school teacher and ushered. He was former member of Y-City Lions Club and U.S. Air Force/ Air National Guard. Surviving are his loving wife of 26 years, Marilyn S. Hedges Swope whom he married on October 10, 1992; two daughters, Christa (Rob) Williamson and Traci Hittle; two grandsons, Cody Swope and Brandon Hittle; a sister, Margaret McConnell, a brother, Ron (Ruth) Swope; a sister-in-law, Judi (Dick) Smith; brother-in-law, John(Debbie) Hedges and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Swope and a brother-in-law Robert McConnell. Friends and family may call from 5-7 P.M. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Market Street Baptist Church, 140 N. 6th Street, Zanesville, OH with Pastor Howard Thompson officiating. Entombment will be at Zanesville Memorial Park where Full Military Honors will be accorded to him by the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29. |
