| About | Shirley L Gray, 88 of Zanesville, died 6:50 PM, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Genesis Hospital. She was born Wednesday, April 20, 1927 in Zanesville, the daughter of W. D. McGinnis and Margaret (Layton) McGinnis. She married Jack R. Gray who preceded her in death on Friday, November 27, 1992. Shirley was employed with Good Samaritan Hospital in the kitchen and laundry departments retiring following 28 years of service. Shirley loved to clean and greatly enjoyed helping her friends and family. She was always gladly willing to help anyone and lend a hand to anyone in need. The family wishes to thank the staff of Beckett House and CCU Department of Genesis Hospital for the care and attention given to their mother during her illness. Shirley is survived by three sons: Rick (Linda) Gray of Norwich, Bill (Fran) Gray of Zanesville and Pat (Cheri) Gray of Norwich; five grandchildren; Tina (Jeff) Stover, Kellie Smith, Amanda (Juan) Lorenzo, Jessica Gray, Torie (Corey Walker) Gray and Zane (Kelsee Parsons) Gray; two step-grandchildren: Jeffrey (Alicia) Hunt and Deanna Barcus and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband: Jack Gray, one son and daughter-in-law: Chris & Jennifer Gray; two grandchildren: Joel Gray & Shannon Kramer. Friends may call one hour prior to funeral services from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral Services will follow at 12 Noon with Pastor Mark Douglas officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Mount Olive Cemetery. |
