| About | A graveside service for Steve Kent Thagard will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dennison, Ohio, on Friday, 6 October 2023, at 12:00 noon. Steven Kent Thagard, age 77, of Saint Louisville, Ohio, passed away on 19 September 2023. Steve was born on February 15, 1946 to Kent and Wanda Thagard in Alexandria, Virginia. After Steve graduated from Zanesville High School in 1964, he then went on to a stint in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman, during the Vietnam War. He mastered Morse Code which he could recall to this day. In 1967, Steve met Maxine McLean in Newark, Ohio. Steve and Maxine went on to have two children, Kristina Lynn Thagard and Heather Renee Steffee. Steve did many things quietly, warm and caring things that sometimes people forget. He taught many of his younger siblings to drive a car. He taught his youngest brother how to shoot and hunt. Steve loved being outdoors and away from crowds. He enjoyed being out in nature, whether it was hunting, or just observing animals in the wild. He could spend hours watching the wildlife near his home where he spent the latter part of this life. He is survived by his daughter Heather; and grandchildren, Haley Rakaska, Jerred Rakaska, Britany Rakaska, Kylee Rakaska, Nathan Workman, Jordan Workman, Dylan Workman, Logan Workman, and Brandon Workman; his siblings, Ed Thagard, John Thagard, Annette Campbell, Lynnette Fitzpatrick, Alex Thagard, and Odette James. Steve was preceded in death by Maxine and his daughter Kristina. |
