About | Steven “Steve” Lee Bowers of Heath, age 76, passed away on September 5, 2022 at the Selma Markowitz Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). He was born on December 6, 1945 in Zanesville to the late Clarence W. and Dorothy L. (Riley) Bowers. Steve is survived by his son, Andrew “Andy” (Ruth) Steven Bowers; two brothers, Ed (Sara) Bowers and Brett Bowers; a sister, Brenda (John) Krumlauf; twin granddaughters, Emma and Grace Bowers; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Bowers Wright; a brother, Ronald Gene Bowers; his fiancé, Betty Cason; a nephew, Keith Bowers; and sister-in-law, Linda Bowers. As a youth, Steve was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Zanesville. He later attended other churches while residing in other states, including St. Mark United Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia. Steve was a 1963 graduate of Zanesville High School, and attended Ohio University in Athens for four years. He served our country in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. He also was a Mason. He had a successful career as a Regional Sales Director over several states with The Campbell’s Soup Company, where he was employed for over 30 years. His ready smile and friendly personality made him well-suited for the position. Steve was outgoing and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Among his favorite pastimes, Steve enjoyed golfing, boating, poolside barbecues with family and friends, and old Westerns. The family would like to express their gratitude to his caregivers, and are especially grateful for a friend, Vickie Bope, who went above and beyond, driving him to doctor and hospital appointments, visiting him daily, and so many other aspects of his care. A private family memorial service for Steve with military honors will be held at a later date with inurnment at Zanesville Memorial Park. |
