| About | ????? Remembering Steve ????? Steve, my dad, loved the outdoors—camping, hitting the trails, riding his bike for hours, and just being one with nature. He had a free spirit, always cruising and grooving to good old classic rock & roll. If there was a song on, chances were Steve knew every word. ???? He was a hands-on kind of guy—Zanesville’s handyman, always ready to lend a helping hand. He had a natural green thumb, was great with animals, and spent countless hours at Putnam Landing. Even the ducks and geese are going to miss their Duck Commander. ???????? More than anything, Steve, my dad, tried to be there for his brother and sister-in-law. Over the last few years, he grew especially close with my brother. They walked through some hard times together—trauma bonded in a way—and it meant everything to see my dad show up for him. Especially knowing my brother always quietly longed for that father-son connection. Steve tried to make up for lost time in his own way, and he did it with love. He never told anyone he was sick. He didn’t want his death to be heavy or miserable—he wanted life to stay life. And in the most unexpected way, that’s exactly how it happened. Sad, yes… but also beautiful. Heart-warming. So him. My dad Steve lived freely, walked his own path, made his peace, and is now truly at peace. Like a free bird. ????? You will be missed, Dad. Zanesville won’t be the same without you. --????Your loving daughter Lindsay Russell |
