About | Stewart M. Hoover Jr., 83 passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017. He was born July 3, 1933 to the late Stewart M. and Edna L. Porter Hoover Sr., in Woodsfield, OH. Stewart was a 1951 graduate of Lash High School. He started working in retail at the age of 16 with Canteen Vending. From 1950 to 1974 he worked for Cussin Fearn Hardware, which became Buckeye Mart Discount Department Store. He later worked at Y-City Office, Allied Office Products and finally Zanesville Office Supply. He was a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served on the Trustees, Ushers, Staff/Parish, Finance Administrative Council, Worship, Evangelism and Co-Facilitator of Neighbors in Need. Stewart enjoyed family camping trips, fishing in Canada, hunting and golfing. His pride and joy was his family and he instilled in his children that treating people with respect and dignity was a necessity. He truly enjoyed being around people, especially his customers, his family and his church family. He is survived by his wife Candice Bailey Hoover; four sons: Bryan (Carol) Hoover, Jeffrey Hoover, Darren (Richard Wall) LaShelle and Daniel (Michelle) LaShelle; daughter Beth (Ken) Groom; seven grandchildren: Christopher (Kendra) Hoover, Aaron (Ashleigh) Hoover; Jeffrey (Diane) Hoover Jr.; Melissa (Dana) James; Andrew (Ashley) Groom; Philip (Emily) Groom and Lily LaShelle; six great grandchildren: Jeffrey Hoover III, Tyler Hoover, Ellianna Hoover, Abigail James Elsie Hoover and Olivia Hoover; and a sister Mary Hoover. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: JoAnn Hoover and Nancy Hoover. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM Thursday, June 8, 2017 and one hour prior to services at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, June 9, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Judson and Rev. Tom England officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park. |
