About | Sue Ellen Fulkerson, 65, of Zanesville, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Adams Lane Care Center. She was born Dec. 14, 1943, in Zanesville, and was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Helen Wenzler Bryan. Sue was a graduate of Valparaiso University, where she obtained her degrees in sociology and psychology. She worked several years as a social worker with the Franklin and Muskingum County departments of human and children services. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Sue had been a poet since childhood with numerous awards including citations from Who's Who. Several of her poems have been published over the past 30 years including a book published in 1999 entitled, "Poems For Life's Seasons" which include sketches by local artist and friend, Vici Taylor. Surviving are her husband, Larry D. Fulkerson, whom she married April 5, 1968; daughter, Rebecca (Henry Winkelmes) Fulkerson of Zanesville; son, Matthew (Vicki) Fulkerson of Zanesville; grandsons, Bryan Fulkerson and Zach Antonetz of Zanesville; sister, Ann Hess of Zanesville; and brother Thomas A. (Alice) Bryan of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will begin at 1 p.m. with memorial services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. The Rev. Glenn Smith will officiate. |
