| About | Theodore C. “Ted” Zakany, Sr. 90 of Zanesville, died 12:42 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Heath Nursing Care Center following a brief illness. He was born Friday, June 3, 1927 in Zanesville, the son of Albert Zakany and Charlotte M.(Cannon) Zakany. He married Doris Marie (Sagle) Zakany who preceded him in death on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Ted along with his wife and brother were co-owners of Zakany’s Food Town Market on State Street. Following his grocer years; Ted was a corporate stockbroker with Market Solution. Ted served on Zanesville City Council for over 30 years; holding the positons of Ward Councilmen, Council At Large and President of Council. He was a faithful member of Toastmaster International Club 257; a very active member of the Democratic Central Committee and Muskingum County Democratic Party and was a member of Care For Your Neighbors and NAACP. Ted was a lifelong member of Northside Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the board and many other committees. He was very active with Zanesville Athletic Boosters and Band Boosters where he served as president of the organizations. Ted was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Ted is survived by two daughters: Beverly (Mark) Catlett and Julie Zakany; three sons: Ted Zakany, Jr., Daniel (Marla) Zakany & Tom Zakany all of Zanesville; ten grandchildren: Michelle (Kevin) Zakany, Melissa (Darryl Thompson) Zakany, Kim (Steve) Heller, Wendy (Jason) Bath, Jennie (Chad) Edelen Ashlee (Jeremy Makin) Catlett, Ryan (Alex) Catlett, Danielle Zakany and Jordan Zakany; seventeen great grandchildren: Zach, Matthew, Michael, MacKenzie, Jack, Blake, Carter, Kendall, Harrison, Hamilton, Slade, Kayleigh, Gavin, Jadalynn and Kaydence; two great, great grandchildren: Addi Lynn and Amellia and his sister-in-law: Estelle Zakany In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife of over 66 years: Doris Marie Zakany who died March 20, 2012; a granddaughter: Maria Zakany; a daughter-in-law: Delores “Dee” Zakany; one brother: Albert “Al” Zakany Friends may call from 5-8 PM, Friday, October 6, 2017, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Visitation will also be held 10 AM to 12 Noon, Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Northside Church of the Nazarene, 739 Francis Street, Zanesville, where Funeral Services will follow at 12 Noon with Rev. Dr. James Miller officiating. |
