About | Vera Alice Dick, 69, of 2123 Marion Ave., died at 9:24 am Friday, October 21, 1988, at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Miss Dick a lifetime resident of the Zanesville area, was a school teacher who taught at Sheridan, Monroe, Lincoln and Westview elementary schools before retiring in 1974. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she served as an Elder Deacon, and adult Sunday School teacher and president of Christian Women's Fellowship. Miss Dick was member of Order of Eastern Star Muskingum Chapter 485 and of Starbrugers. She was a president of Blue Triangle, a member and past president of Business and Professional Women's Club, and a member and past chairwoman of the Elliott Scholarship Foundation. A board member and past chairwoman of Muskingum County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Miss Dick volunteered to serve at Good Samaritan and for the American Red Cross. She was also a board member and secretary of the Zanesville Concert Association and a life member of the retired Teachers Association. Born December 15, 1918, in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Donald E. and Bernice Johnson Dick. Two brothers, Bernard V. Dick and Vance Starlin Dick preceded her in death. She is survived by two brothers, Donald Leon Dick of Chillicothe and C. Trafford Dick of Zanesville, and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Memorial Park |
