| About | ZANESVILLE - Virginia R. Sims, 89, of Zanesville, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Genesis Extended Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Zanesville, and was the daughter of the late August Leo and Mary Elizabeth Foutch Maier. Virginia graduated from Lash High School in 1936 and received her degree from Meredith Business College in 1938. She had a special fondness in her heart for animals, including many dogs which, were her companions over the years. Surviving are a daughter, Suellen (James) Dale; and a son, Michael S. (Alta) Sims of Zanesville; and two granddaughters, Alexandra Dale, M.D. of Virginia Beach and Ann Elisabeth Sims of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Jay Sims, whom she married Aug. 7, 1938, and who died May 5, 2003 after 64 years of marriage. Honoring her own wishes, Virginia requested there be no calling hours. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. A caring cremation service has been provided by the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Memorial contributions may be given to the Animal Shelter Society, 1431 Serenity Lane, Zanesville Ohio 43701. |
