About | Vivian E. Eppley, 101 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on August 31, 2024, at The Oaks at Bethesda Healthcare Center. She was born on June 23, 1923, in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles Edward Schneider Sr. and Phoebe Catherine (Mercer) Schneider. Viv was a lifetime member of the First Assembly of God Church in Zanesville, which was originally founded in her parents’ home. She served as Secretary and as a board member for many years. Viv was a bookkeeper for a brief time at Gulf Oil Corporation and went on to work for S.S. Kresge & Jupiter Store for 30 plus years. She later worked at Kmart, where she retired in the 1980’s. In her spare time, she loved reading, working on word search puzzles and the 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles. She always had a smile and never had a bad thing to say about anyone, she always lived by the Golden Rule. Viv will always be remembered as a kind and giving person. When asked what contributed to her longevity, she would tell people her faith in God and her positive outlook on life. Viv is survived by her daughter, Joyce E. Frederick; several nieces, nephews, & their spouses, Larry Dovenbarger, Jane Dovenbarger, Diana (Sullivan) Kirkpatrick, Terry Sullivan, Brenda (Olden) Hendershot, Karen Olden, Charles “Daniel” Eppley, Carol (Eppley) Miller, Bryan Schneider, Sharon Schneider; sister-in-law, Millie Schneider; several great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends; 2 grand fur babies: Reggie and Riley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, Robert Nelson Eppley; siblings, Dorothy Schneider, twin, Virginia Schneider, Jean (Bill) Eppley, Ruth (Bill) Merkle, Charles E. “Sonny” Schneider Jr.; son-in-laws, Jeffrey Donahue and James Frederick; nephews, William “Dale” Eppley, Stanley “Paul” Eppley, Roger Olden, Rodney Olden, Keith Olden, Ronald Sullivan; niece, Pamela Allbright; special grand fur baby, Kacey; sister-in-laws, Peggy Schneider, Ruth (Carl) Sullivan, Phyllis Olden, and Marilyn (Roger) Ward. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at The Oaks at Bethesda for the love and care they gave to Viv during the last year and a half of her life. Calling hours will be held on Thursday September 5, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jeff Fountain from First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will conclude services at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. |
