About | William "Bill" Frances Hoops, Sr., 76, of Zanesville, gained his eternal life, Sunday,January 27, 2019. Bill was born December 14, 1942 to the late Frances P. and Lorenna J. (Griffith) Hoops. In addition to his parents, Bill is also preceded in death by his brother, Samuel J. Hoops. Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and dedicated wife of 53 years, Jerra S. Hoops; his children, William "Billy" F. (Debbie) Hoops, Jr., Amy Sue Bronkar, and Dirk Samuel (Amanda) Hoops; grandchildren, Hunter, Morgan, Taylor, Caidence, Reilly and Leo; beloved dogs, Girly, Bogie, Bubby, Sissy, and Ozzy; as well as many other family and friends. Bill entered the Air Force directly out of high school, and went on to fight in the Vietnam War. After his service, Bill went on to earn a degree in criminal justice. He later worked as a police officer in both Cleveland and Zanesville, Ohio. Bill became a deputy sheriff in the Zanesville area. He was very involved in running the local D.A.R.E. program, which led to him being affectionately dubbed 'Deputy Bill' by local children. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Amity No. 5, and was the one time president of his F.O.P. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Bill was a member of the Norval Park Church of Christ, and above all other obligations, Bill strove to live for The Lord, whom he greatly loved. He will be missed by many. You may call on the family Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., at the Norval Park Church of Christ, 845 Arch St., in Zanesville. Minister Keith Kress officiating. Cremation will follow |
