About | William “Pete” Theodore Peterson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, 84, of Zanesville Ohio, left this world to be with his savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Pete was born on October 26, 1939, to Einer Peterson and Mary VanDyne. Pete is preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Einer (Lucille) Peterson and his mother, Mary VanDyne; mother and father-in-law, William (Sophia) Evans of Roseville; siblings, Frederick Wilson, Sue M. Masten and Beth E. Peterson; nieces, Mae M. Masten and Molly Abella; special dog, Zoey. Pete is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, whom he married on April 10, 1964, Carole Jean Peterson; children, Paula (John) Blaney and Ryan Peterson; grandchildren, Hailee Blaney, Cullen Blaney, Blayz Blaney, Miley Peterson, Daniel (Jansen) Strawser and Ashely Strawser; great grandchildren, Paris Dieujuste, Ella Strawser and Willow Belle Strawser; one nephew, Ronald Wilson of St. Louis MS; as well as several other friends and family. Pete was a 1957 graduate of Zanesville High School. After graduating high school Pete went on to serve in the United States Air Force. After serving the country Pete returned to Zanesville where he became a lifelong resident. He was employed at McGraw-Edison for 25 years before going on to become a bus driver for Maysville Local Schools and Muskingum County Head Start. Pete and Carole spent a lot of their free time with family and friends. They especially enjoyed a good game of Euchre with their dear friends Bob and Donna McFee. Pete enjoyed several things like watching NASCAR, gardening and animals from dogs to cats and birds. Pete's garden was beautiful, growing both flowers and produce to enjoy. He was considered the “Birdman” as his handle on the CB. He raised parakeets, cockatiels, pheasants, rheas, chickens and geese. He even had two pet geese over the years. Pete passed his love for plants and animals on to his children and grandchildren, a true testament to his nurturing presence. Pete was a member of the Norval Park Church of Christ. Pete will be missed by all that knew him, especially those he loved to tease. You may call on the family on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Norval Park Church of Christ, 845 Arch St. Zanesville Ohio 43701, with funeral services to start at 1 p.m. Cremation will follow the funeral service. |
