| About | William B. Hewitt, 51, of 517 Richmond Ave., a fireman for the City of Zanesville, died at 6 a.m. Thursday at his residence. Muskingum County Coroner E. J. Booth ruled the death a suicide by strangulation. Mr. Hewitt joined the Zanesville Department Dec. 1, 1952, and was also self-employed in residential construction. He was a member of First Christian Church, Lafayette Lodge No. 79, F&AM and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Born Feb. 27, 1928, Hewitt was a son of Agnes Maxwell Hewitt of 538 Winton Ave. and the late Charles David Hewitt. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, the former Marla A. Conaway, a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Holly) Merritt, Jr. of 1307 Athena Lane; a son, Scott William of the home; and a sister, Mrs. Warren (Rebecca) Dotson of 9915 Frazeysburg Road, Dresden. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bryan Funeral Home where the services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday with Rev. E. C. Traylor officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Roseville. Lafayette Lodge No. 79 will hold Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. |
