About | Patricia Sue Wood, retired registered nurse, died December 27, 2007 in her home at the age of 73. The daughter of the late Allen D. and Cleta Mae [Mewherter] Fitchett. Pat was born November 21, 1934 on her grandparents farm near Morrison, Noble, Oklahoma. Pat graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 1952 and was a member of the high school band. She was elected band queen her senior year at CHS. On October 11, 1952, she was united in marriqge to Leon Wood. They had three children: John Michael, Mindy, and Glen Aden. Leon preceded her in death on August 25, 2007. Pat attended nursing school, which had been her lifelong dream, and received her registered nurse's degree from State University of New York in Albany. As an RN, she worked at Cushing Regional Hospital for about 20 years in the intensive care unit and the emergency room. It was the love of her life to help people who were ill or hurting and many people remember her care for them. She was a member of the Cushing Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling and camping and spent many summers fishing for trout with her family at Roaring River State Park in Missouri. Survivors include her three children, John and his wife Jerri of Claremore, Mindy and her husband Rod of Cushing and Glen and his wife Judi of Edmond; six grandchildren, Patrick Hunter and his wife Susan of Cushing, Jaden Hunter of Cushing, Kylie Hunter of Cushing, Jana Wiedower and her husband Steve of Tulsa and Shandi Treat; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Mia Wiedower and Hadlee Treat and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was prededed in death by her husband and two brothers, Darrell of Wichita, Kansas and Aden Lee of Rocky Ford, Colorado. Funeral services were held at 10am, December 31, 2007 in the Cushing Christian Church. Larry Lehr and William Kelly, officiated. Burial followed in the Cushing Fairlawn Cemetery. The family requested that memorial contributions be made to the Sojourn Care Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 265, Drumright, Oklahoma 74030. Services were under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home. |
