About | Joe Dennis Walker age 72 of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away February 26, 2024 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK due to complications of Covid, diabetes and kidney failure. Joe was born on November 2, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK to Dennis and Dana (Gartman) Walker. Joe was the second child born to this union, with daughter Janet (Walker) Jones of Moore Oklahoma being first born. Joe attended Midwest City schools and graduated from Midwest City High School in 1969. He went to college at OU and graduated from OSU with a media degree. He quickly learned that working in the TV world was not for him! He went on to pursue a long career in truck driving which he did until an accident with his big rig ended his career on September 5, 2013. He met his wife June (Kleinsasser/Wiedmeier) thru a friend, Wayne Dixon, at work. Wayne was married to June's sister Cindy at that time and they arranged a blind date for us. We went out to dinner on April 1, 1982 and connected at first sight. Joe & June were married on July 14, 1984. This year would have been our 40th Wedding Anniversary. To this union Joe became a wonderful stepfather to June's children, Heath & Sunny Wiedmeier. The children brought Five grandchildren into our lives which we are forever grateful for. Joe was a wonderful grandfather (Papa) and loved attending all of the sports activities and supporting each child in their endeavors. Joe was a genuinely nice guy that everyone liked. He had a gruff attitude but a good heart. The kids all got used to him as a "grumpy old man" in his later years but loved him just the same! He was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife June, her children and many friends and relatives. He is survived by son Heath Wiedmeier & wife Tammy of Owasso and their children (Caden, Heidi, & Jayce), daughter Sunny Wiedmeier-Adams (Patrick) of Sand Springs; and their children (Lincoln and Jasper), a sister Janet Jones, brother-in-law Sid Jones and one nephew Larry Cook. Two years ago we were blessed with a great-grandson, Hale Adams that Papa found very entertaining! Joe requested no memorial be held. A wake to celebrate his life will be held this summer. |
