Patricia "Patty" Barker, 72, of Midwest City died Sunday, June 25, 2023 after a very brief battle with cancer. Patty was born October 11, 1950 in Denton, Texas to Robert and Virginia Wright. She graduated from Midwest City High School in 1969. She received a bachelors degree from Oklahoma State University and later a masters degree from Central State. Patty began her educational career in 1973. She taught 1st grade at Traub Elementary before becoming the school counselor. She loved her coworkers like family! Patty went above and beyond for her students. After 45 years in education, Patty retired! Patty is preceded in death by her father Robert Wright; her mother Virginia Wright; her sister Debbie McGuire; and her grandparents Jacob and Lydia Wright and Hubbard and Carrie Jones. Patty is survived by her husband Steven Barker; her brother Terry Wright and his wife Janice; her nephew Todd McGuire; her niece Teri Carrier and her husband Cam Carrier; her nephew Tanner McGuire and his wife Jessica; her niece Shawna Walker and her husband Neville; her great nephews and nieces Mason Carrier, Kendall Carrier, Jalen Walker, Jordan Walker, Adelise McGuire, and Loralie McGuire.
