Sammy Eugene Young, 65 of Midwest City entered the arms of the Lord peacefully on Independence Day. He was born in Berkeley, CA on March 2, 1943 to Albert and Imogene Young. Both of who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy, his brothers Ronny and wife Pauline, and Jimmy and wife Beverly, his three children Scott and wife Alicia of Midwest City, Shelley Mayberry and husband Ben of Tulsa, Pete and Lisa of Los Angeles, CA, grandchildren Colby, Grant, and Samantha Young, Emily, Chandler, Matt and Sam Mayberry, and Katie Young, great granddaughter Mayci Paige Young, and numerous nephews & nieces. Growing up in Midwest City and excelling in athletics he was on the first MCHS State Championship Football team in 1960. He attended SWOSU, UNLV, and CSU. Ever a Bomber, Sam proudly served several terms on the Mid-Del School Board also serving as President of the OSSBA. He served for many years as a Deacon and beloved Sunday school teacher at Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City. He was a retired insurance agent. Sam will be remembered most for his quick wit, good nature and his long drives and short putts. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City. |
