Graduation Year Class of 1969
Date of Passing Jan 02, 2023
About (no additional information)
Events Vicki Lynn Sanders, 72, passed away Jan. 2, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with Lupus and other autoimmune diseases. She was born in Bristow on April 19, 1951, to Charles and Jo Smith. Vicki graduated from Midwest City High School in 1969. After high school, she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she met the love of her life, Steve Sanders. They were married on June 19, 1970, in Midwest City. Steve and Vicki would have celebrated 53 years of marriage in 2023. Their first years of marriage were spent in Midwest City until they moved to Kingfisher in 1975 so Steve could rejoin the family business, Crandall and Sanders. It was then Vicki began her true calling in life. She was a loving, stay-at-home wife and mother. Nobody could do it better. The house was always perfectly clean and there was always a home-cooked meal. Her girls, Jamie and Joy, were her greatest blessings. Vicki was an amazing mom. The girls were always dressed up and hair done "to a T." She was always a classroom mom excited to bring treats to Jamie and Joy's school parties. Vicki loved being involved with the local Mother's Club, fundraising for the girls' various activities, being a class parent for both, creating costumes for dance recitals and Halloween, being a cheerleading sponsor, taking classes like wood painting and teaching Vacation Bible School. Spoiling her girls was her favorite thing. So much so, that she could never imagine a house full of boys. Little did she know, one day she would get to spoil four grandsons, Braeden, Bryce, Jensen and Jener. She traded the bows and dance shoes for sporting goods, show pigs, basketball shoes and everything in between. She would say she did not know how to spoil boys, but she was a fast learner. She was endlessly proud of the boys in everything they did and do. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jo Smith; father- and mother-in-law, Max and Nina Sanders; a sister, Tammie Sue; and twin daughters, Melisa Kaye and Melinda Jayne. Vicki is survived by husband Steve of Kingfisher; daughters Jamie Shults and husband Mike of Kingfisher and Joy Ludwig and Laun Post of Kingfisher; grandsons Braeden Coon and wife Amber (Wright) of Perry, Bryce Coon of Mountain View, Jensen and Jener Ludwig of Kingfisher; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Lupus Research.
