About “Life is Grand!” Jack Wright Tarpley, resident of Red Bank, and formerly of Sayre, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully, May 3, 2020. A graduate of Sayre High School, he lettered in several sports. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma University and was a lifelong Sooner fan. He was a member and president of Phi Kappa Sigma. He married Betty Ann Funkhouser, August 24, 1963. Jack took a job with DuPont and they moved to Chattanooga, in 1965. He received a Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee and obtained his Professional Engineering License. Jack was a member of Red Bank Church of Christ where he humbly served as a deacon and elder. Jack was active in the Red Bank Community, coaching little league for his sons. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, photography, poetry, westerns, and all things regarding his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather and friend. Jack embodied humility, wisdom, discernment, patience and kindness. Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty and his parents, Tom and Cornelia Tarpley. Survivors include sons: Thomas Arthur (Debbie) and Jack Jonathan, daughters: Heather Lee (Kraig Campbell) and Tara Ann (Chance Blackmer); treasured Grandchildren: Kendall Tarpley, Tyson Campbell, Max Tarpley, Kayla Campbell, Hayden Blackmer, Sierra Tarpley, Lilah Blackmer, Charlotte Blackmer and Josiah Tarpley; loving sister, Nancy Holland of Redding California; sister-in law, Patricia Grant of Chattanooga, brother-in-law Arthur Taylor Funkhouser of Bern, Switzerland; beloved nieces and nephews: Ann Rusnak, Jack Holland, Jenny Cunningham, David Funkhouser, Evelyn Funkhouser, and Jeannine Funkhouser. Visitation will be Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Lane Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be live-streamed Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home at
