About | JAMES MOODY Obituary Aug. 7, 1956 - Feb. 24, 2017 OKLAHOMA CITY The Reverend Jim Moody was born Aug. 7, 1956, in Oklahoma City. He was a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jim served four churches in Oklahoma: Millwood Baptist Church, Oklahoma City; Oak Valley Baptist Church, Crescent, OK; First Baptist Church, Coalgate, OK; and the Wellston United Methodist Church, Wellston, OK. He was a gifted preacher and a caring pastor. Jim was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved Oklahoma University football and was an avid NCAA basketball fan. Golf was his favorite sport and he loved everything about the game. He played as long as his health allowed him to. He fought a long, difficult and courageous battle with a rare neuromuscular disease. He died peacefully Feb. 24, 2017. He is survived by his daughter, Natalie Arnold and her husband Danny and two grandchildren, Addie and Ethan, all of Oklahoma City; his son, Jeff Moody, of Oklahoma City; his twin sister, Laura Jolene Banning and her husband Michael, of Bethany, OK; his brother Tim Moody, of Dallas, TX; and his brother, Dr. Terry Moody and his wife Jan, of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. John Moody and Joanne Moody, of Oklahoma City; and his brother, John Moody, Jr., of Tulsa, OK. Viewing will be Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. at Mercer-Adams in Bethany. Service will be held at Mayridge Baptist Church Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, 2 p.m. with interment to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
