About | Graveside services for George B. Barkdoll of Philomath will be held Thursday at 2pm at the Oaklawn Cementery, with the Rev. Walter Hines officiating. Mr. Barkdoll, 41, died of a heart attack Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born October 2, 1944, in Myrtle Creek to Raymond and Gladys Meyer Barkdoll. He lived in the Philomath-Kings Valley area since 1959. On August 7, 1964, he married Charlotte Mott in Philomath. Mr. Barkdoll worked in many phases of the timber industry from 1962 through 1977 before he became disabled. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and was a former volunteer firefighter, serving as assistant chief of the Kings Valley Volunteer Fire Department. He had been vice president of the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo for the past four years. He was very active in the Kings Valley community and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a former member of the Corvallis Elks Club. Mr. Barkdoll is suvived by his wife, Charlotte Barkdoll of Philomath; two daughters, Tamara Barkdoll and Terri Barkdoll, both of Philomath; a sister, Frances Sparks of Weldon, CA; and a brother, Donald Barkdoll of Salem.
