About John Roger Jungels, 71, of Celebration, FL and formerly of Oley, PA died Monday, September 26, 2016 at Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, FL, following complications from a fall.

Born January 29, 1945 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Alton Jacob and Emma Virginia Jungels.


After graduating from Abington High School, he earned his Bachelors of Science and Masters’ Degree in Education from Temple University.

The majority of his career he worked for the Berks County Intermediate Unit where he worked in roles as a special education teacher and as a special education itinerant teacher consultant where he serviced students in several Berks County schools. He also worked in the Career and Technical Center and the Youth Detention Center in Berks County.

John was an avid historian with a keen focus on American Presidents and was well-known locally as a collector of political signatures and local Americana.

Surviving is his sister, Virginia Barre of West Haven, CT; his two nephews, John and Todd Pasquarello; his two nieces, Carrie Anderson Bean and Elyse Anderson McElwaine and six great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, F. Lynn Anderson, and his brother, George Jungels.

John will be dearly missed by his beloved family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 423 Main Street, Oley. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Roslyn (Hillside) Cemetery, Montgomery County.
