Douglas Keith Blystone Sr., 44, of Kiski Township, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights, of a work-related injury. He was born Nov. 7, 1962, in Natrona Heights, a son of the late Arthur L. Sr. and Ethel Marie (Moonley) Blystone. He lived in Kiski Township all of his life and graduated in 1982 from Apollo Ridge High School, Apollo. He worked at Penn Plastics in Creighton, Presbyterian Senior Care, Oakmont, in maintenance, CG Scott Landscaping, and most recently, as a roofer for Reed Contracting Inc., Vandergrift. He was a member of the Kiski Township VFD for 26 years, serving as a safety officer, and also was a member of Armstrong County and Western Pennsylvania State Firemen's Associations. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Janet (Masisak) Blystone; two sons, Douglas K. Jr. and Mason Blystone; two daughters, Kristen and Emily Blystone; and two grandchildren, Caedin and Quinton Blystone, all of Kiski Township; nine brothers, Dale (companion, Dottie Baylor) Blystone, of Apollo, William Blystone, of West Virginia, Arthur (Faye) Blystone, of South Bend Township, Louis (Claire) Blystone, of Kiski Township, John Blystone, of Bell Township, Thomas (Rachael) Blystone, of South Bend Township, Gregory (Cheryl) Blystone, of Ford City, Raymond Blystone, of Georgia, and Jeffrey (Becky) Blystone, of Kiski Township; three sisters, Barbara (Thomas) Taylor, of Kelly Station, Robin (companion, Jeff Clark)Blystone, of Parks Township, and Melissa Orr, of Kelly Station; an uncle and aunt, Edward and Nancy Moonley, of North Apollo; and sister-in-law, Nancy Blystone, of Truxall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Blystone; sister, Janet Blystone; niece, Penny Blystone; and three nephews, Edward, Mark and Matthew Blystone. Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, where funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Dr. Mitchel Nickols, of Bibleway Christian Fellowship Church, New Kensington, officiating. Burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo. The Kiski Township Fire Department will conduct funeral services at 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. |
