About | Jeanne Lee Tarter, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on January 21, at the age of 81 surrounded by those she loved. Jeanne spent her childhood in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, graduating from Charleroi High School with the class of 1952. In 1955, she began her lifelong passion of caring for others, becoming a Registered Nurse with Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1956, she met and married the love of her life, Dr. Robert C. Tarter, MD. In 1960, the couple moved to Vandenberg Air Force Base where they spent the next four years while Bob finished his commitment with the Air Force. Four years later Jeanne and Bob moved to Redlands, California, their home, beloved community, and the place where they raised their five children. Jeanne enjoyed learning, earning bachelor’s degree from the University of Redlands in 1980, a master’s degree in Education from California State University, San Bernardino in 1986, and a doctorate in Psychology from the United States International University in 1991. She was active in her community, being a long time member of the Bonnes Meres, Assistance League of Redlands, and the April Morning Club. Jeanne was passionate about cooking, traveling, reading, animals, and most of all she loved her family. In her later years, her free time was spent traveling the world with her husband at her side, and creating unforgettable memories with those they cherished. The legacy of her commitment to making those around her feel like family continues even after her death. Jeanne is survived by her loving husband of 59+ years; her children: Robert Tarter, Redlands, CA; Susan Varner; Moreno Valley, CA; Eric Tarter, Carlsbad, CA; Greg Tarter, Truckee, CA; Cindy Armstrong, Morgan Hill, CA; as well as her six grandchildren Katelynn Armstrong, Stephanie Armstrong, Christopher Armstrong, Eric Tarter, Sarah Tarter, and Samantha Tarter.
