About | WELLSVILLE - Dottie Kay Moran (Helms), 66, of 199C Madison St., died Thursday (Nov. 29, 2012) at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 26, 1946, in Coudersport, Pa., a daughter of James Herbert and Kathryn Elliott Moran, where she lived until she married K. Richard Helms Jr. Feb. 3, 1968, in Smethport, Pa. Dottie was a 1964 graduate of Coudersport High School. After raising four children, Dottie returned to school and graduated with high honors from both Alfred State College and Alfred University. In the late 1980s, Dottie was the owner-manager of The Carousel consignment store on East Pearl Street in Wellsville, where she made many friends, all of whom she loved. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Wellsville. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She is survived by her four children, Kelison (Polly) and James (Dena) Helms, both of Wellsville, Sue (Charles) Chambers of Oneida and Mary Lou (Chris) Pellenz of Kirkville; two sisters, Mary Lou Way of Warren, Pa., and Scena Moran of Kirkville; a brother, R. Paul Moran of Victor; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, C. James Moran. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Monday (Dec. 3, 2012) at Trinity Lutheran Church, 470 N. Main St., Wellsville, followed by a funeral at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Cole Gruberth of St. John's Episcopal Church presiding. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery in Coudersport. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Allegany County SPCA, the Wellsville Public Library or an organization of the donor's choosing.
