About Malvena Alberta Smith Porter, 55, of Jefferson Street, Harrisburg, transitioned into eternal life on Sunday, October 2, 2011 in the peace and love of her home.

She was born in Somerset, KY to the union of Shirley Mae Garrett Smith and the late Paul Smith. A 1973 graduate of the former John Harris High School, an employee of Park West Medical Systems in Baltimore, MD, a former employee of Hamilton Health Center, Pennsboro Pediatrics and Women's First OBGYN, a member of Reclaim The Streets Ministries, where she served on the Usher Board and in her leisure, enjoyed making jewelry, reading the Bible, watching game shows and spending time with her grandchildren.

Malvena was the widow of Johnathan Alvino Porter, Sr. and in addition to her mother, Shirley Mae Garrett Stevenson, she leaves to celebrate her life, her sons, Eric Dwayne Johnson, Johnathan Alvino Porter III and Chester Lamont Porter; her daughters, Leslie Lynette Smith-Abdou and Lucretia Lysha Smith, all of Harrisburg; her adopted son, Henry Clay Johnson, Jr. of Katy, TX; her sisters, Rhonda Smith (Whiting) Hollman, Anita and Cynthia Smith; her brothers, Paul and Franklin Smith, her seven grandchildren.
