Mother passed on Sunday 3-12-17 at 3:12pm in SF, in her home a the age of 97 1/2 and 5 days, with 2 of her children and 1st and oldest Grand daughter by her side. She leaves behind 3 children Judith May (Banks) Simmons (Gary), Janice (Banks) Murray, and Dale Franklin Banks (Cheryl). Her husband C.Jay Banks passed on June 27, 1982. Florence was born in Reading to Florence May (Miller) and Franklin May. Her parents and only sibling, Franklin May (Mary) predeceased her. Their only child, Florence's only niece, Linda (May) Adam (Robert), miss her very much. Florence was a homemaker and kept an immaculate home. She met Jay in San Francisco, when he was on leave from the Navy, while she was visiting her Aunt and 3 cousins. She became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints (aka a Mormon) She married Jay when he was discharged from the Navy, stayed in SF and built their life and family together. She was active in Church and worked with children 18 months to 12 years old. She worked for the SF Unified School District as a Secretary to several School Psychologists, Social Workers and Speech Therapists, typing their reports on special needs children. (she was always correcting the grammar and spelling errors and made their papers look good; and was rewarded for this). She always corrected her 3 children's homework and daily conversations. She wanted us to speak and write well. WE MISS YOU "MOTHER DEAR". |
