Roger T. Newcomer, 47, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Scottdale, passed away at 9:36 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at his residence. Roger was born July 28, 1960, in Connellsville, a son of the late Clyde W. and Rita Virginia Shandorf Newcomer, who passed away Dec. 24, 2000 and March 3, 2007, respectively.
Roger was a loving brother, nephew and uncle to his family. He was a graduate of Southmoreland High School, Class of 1979, and a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale. He enjoyed cooking, especially when home with his family and friends.
Roger will be sadly missed by his loving family; his siblings, Lynda Jezewski, of Scottdale, Lois Herlihy and husband, John, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Rita Bornstein and husband, Edward, of Connellsville, Marsha DeCaria and husband, Vince, of Weirton, W.Va., Paula Peterson and special friend, Martin Gismondi, of Scottdale, Sharon Barclay and husband, Barry, of Scottdale, Lawrence Newcomer, of Scottdale, Claudia Webb, of Killeen, Texas, Beverly Stup and husband, Jim, of Scottdale, Kevin Newcomer and wife, Laurie, of Mt. Pleasant, Sheila Zimmerman and husband, Tim, of Scottdale, Nancy Johnson and husband, John, of Euclid, Ohio, and Laura Newcomer and special friend, Nathan Shirley, of Lexington, Ky.; numerous nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde W. Newcomer Jr. (1991) and Kenneth W. Newcomer (1994); a niece and nephews, Julia and Barry Barclay (1980) and Kevin Jezewski (1988); and a great-niece, Kaylee Moffatt.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale, with the Rev. Father Leonard W. Stoviak as celebrant. (Please go directly to the church.) Graveside committal service and interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. John's Roman Catholic Church (724-887-6321) or Animal Angels (724-542-9242) in memory of Roger T. Newcomer.
