About Judy Leonard Obituary
Judy L. (Hassinger) Leonard

November 23, 1953 - January 1, 2024

Boalsburg, Pennsylvania - Judy L. (Hassinger) Leonard, 70, of Boalsburg, joined her husband in heaven on Monday January 1, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 23, 1953 in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Harry Paul and Luella Florence (Homan) Hassinger. On November 25, 1970 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Boalsburg she married her best friend and love of her life Charles D. "Chuck" Leonard preceded her in death on July 2, 2022.

Judy graduated from State College Area High School in 1971 and she worked as an administrative assistant at Penn State University for more than 35 years prior to her retirement.

Judy served as a past President of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 779, a member of the Eastern Star Lewistown Chapter, an active quilter for the Happy Valley Quilts of Valor program, and volunteered for various organizations such as the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, Penn State football tailgates, and golf tournaments. Judy was well known to love socializing, whether it was golfing, quilting, hanging out at the legion, having coffee with her friend Candy Evelhock every Saturday/Sunday morning, going to birthday parties, or playing with her cats. She was known to have a quirky sense of humor, as well as being selfless, compassionate, and loving. She will be missed and cherished by many, especially her best friend Charlie. Charlie was her kitty that was also registered as an emotional support animal so she could take him anywhere she went.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Rebecca D. Guisewhite and her husband, Scott, of Millheim; three grandchildren, Cody Guisewhite and his wife, Alyssa, Brittany Guisewhite, and Linsey Guisewhite and her partner Zach Auker; four great grandchildren, Malayna, Ava, Phoebe, and Carson; two brothers, Denny Hassinger (Elizabeth) of San Antonio, TX and Ron Hassinger (Darlene) of Julian; her sister, LuAnne Yearick (Greg) of Centre Hall; sister in-law, Marjorie Poorman (Scott) of Stormstown.

A celebration of life will be held at the Legion in Centre Hall at a later date and will be announced.
