About Earl Duane “Duke” Palmatary, age 75 of Chadds Ford, PA passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Neighborhood Health Hospice, West Chester PA surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Carolyn Becker with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in 1942 in Fairville PA, he was the son of the late Aaron F. Palmatary, Sr. and the late Madeline Payne Palmatary.
Duke graduated from Unionville High School Class of 1961. He was the owner of E. Duane Palmatary LLC where he provided lawn care and snow plowing services from 1964 to 2015.
He was a member of the Delaware National Guard. A member of the United States Bowling Congress where he was recognized for 30 years of participation, bowling locally and participating in bowling tournaments nationally.
Duke loved to travel, play cards, croquet, crabbing, boating with his sister and brother-in-law, visiting his cousin on his farm watching them bale hay and loved getting together with family and friends. He was a friend to all and always there to lend a helping hand.
Duke is survived by his wife, Carolyn. Nine brothers and sisters: Donald (Jean-deceased), Ft. Smith, AR; Dorris (John) Munro, Wilmington DE; Elaine (Elliott) Smith, Salem, SC; Richard, Wilmington DE; Harvey (Bonnie) Lock Haven PA; twin sister Sara (Vance) Pennington, Newark, DE; Cathy (Jack) Parkinson, Claymont DE; Gladys (Bayard) Taylor, East New Market, MD; JoAnn (Eugene-deceased) Borror, Cochranville PA. He is predeceased by two brothers Aaron Jr. “Buddy”, Las Vegas NV and Robert, Oklahoma City OK. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church, 101 Old Kennett Road, Wilmington DE on Saturday, October 27, 2018 @ 11:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to Neighborhood Health Hospice, 400 E. Marshall Street, West Chester PA 19380.
