Dr. Guy K. Skelly, D.O., 68, of West Newton, Pa., died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at the Jefferson Hospital in Pleasant Hills, where he served as physician adviser, medical affairs. He was born Feb. 10, 1949, in Greensburg, Pa., son of Julia Ann Slivensky Skelly and the late Floyd Skelly. He was a graduate of South Huntingdon High School, class of 1967, and received his B.A. from St. Vincent College, then graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He was board certified in family practice and was a certified physician executive. He had a family practice in Greensburg for 25 years, was assistant medical director at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, from 2001 to 2005, and was currently serving as physician adviser, of medical affairs at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, 2005 to present. He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society, and the American Association for Physician Leadership. He was also a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, in Herminie, Pa. In addition to his mother, Julia Slivensky Skelly, he is survived by his wife, Mary Bazzo Skelly; two sisters, Lois Robinson, of Greensburg, and Jane Keeports and her husband Darryl, of Landenberg, Pa.; two brothers, Robert Skelly and his wife Karen, of New Freedom, Pa. and Thomas Skelly, of Mendon, Pa.; and nieces and nephews, Susan Marchezak, Thomas E. Skelly, Sara Deno, Caitlyn Skelly, Allison Keeports, Aaron Keeports, Kevin Heasley, Matthew Ebner, Daniel Ebner, J. D. Bazzo and Nicholas Bazzo; and five great-nephews and one great-niece. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC. Route 136, Madison. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Herminie, with Father Joseph Bonafed as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Seven Dolors Church cemetery, Yukon.
