Ronald J. Olschon, 79, of West Newton, was taken by angels to his Heavenly Father Monday, May 19, 2014. He was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Gratztown, a son of the late Joseph Olschon and the late Glenola (Davenport) Olschon Walker. Ron was a graduate of South Huntingdon High School, served in the Army and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of West Newton. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Fort Pitt Steel and Valentine's Dairy. He was an avid basketball player. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Julia (Walko) Olschon; a sister, Lillian Horne; nieces, Valarie (Dave), Tamara (Tom), Heather, Ronalee, Janet Ann (Doug), Susan and Beth (Don); a sister-in-law, Janet (Bob) Bianchi; and best friends, Millie (Ed) Long. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Matthews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., 901 Vine St., West Newton, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. |
