About | Janet L. Dannecker FOSTER - Janet Louise (Gillen) Dannecker, 56, of Burgess Road, Foster, RI, died Friday, November 21, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of Russell Charles Dannecker. Born in Newport on April 29, 1952, she was a daughter of Eleanor Louise (Popple) Gillen of Williamsburg, VA and the late Charles Edward Gillen, Jr. She resided in Foster for twenty-five years. Mrs. Dannecker was a graduate of RI College, a former teacher for Captain Isaac Paine Elementary School in Foster, past president of the Foster Town Council, an active member of the Battery B, First RI Light Artillery and the Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of Union Veterans. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Scituate at which she served several callings including Relief Society President, Young Women’s President and Stake Relief Society President. She was also an avid quilter and genealogist. She is also survived by her son Max Gillen Dannecker, and his wife, Natalie Jane (Griggs) of Merrimack, NH, sisters, Linda Jean (Gillen) Garvin of Falmouth, ME and Karen Dorothy (Gillen) Red and her husband Charles Carlton of Williamsburg, VA. She was the daughter-in-law of Dorothy Ann (Barker) Dannecker of East Greenwich and the late Howard Charles Dannecker, Jr., sister-in-law of Ronald Howard Dannecker and his wife, Kathy Drusilla (Conroy) of East Amherst, NY, aunt of James McKinley Garvin and his wife Emily Susan (Ornatek) of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Katharine Gillen (Garvin) Farmiloe and her husband Daniel Justin of London, England, Joshua Michael Dannecker and his wife Kellyanne (Fiegl) of East Aurora, NY, Matthew Timothy Dannecker and his wife Jamie (Kelleher) of Pelham, NY, Jenny McGee Dannecker of East Amherst, NY, great-aunt of Charles Anthony Garvin, Cameron Michael Dannecker, Connor Matthew Dannecker and Madeline Marie Dannecker; niece of Shirley Mae (Popple) Friend of Rumford and Paul David and Lucy Lucille (Howes) Popple of Middletown. She was the mother of the late Samuel Charles and Charles Jacob Dannecker. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 10 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 551 Central Pike, North Scituate. Burial will be in Phillips Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
