About oseph Marques, 56, passed away unexpectedly at his Middletown home on September 5, 2022.

Born in Newport, RI, Joe was the son of the late Evelyn (Fernandes) Nann and the late John Marques of Middletown and the grandson of the late Joseph Fernandes and Evelyn Fernandes of Middletown.

At a very young age, Joe began working as a dairy farmer working alongside his grandfather on their family farm. He was an auto and boat mechanic and worked as a groundskeeper at Green Valley Country Club for a short time. Joe’s true passion in life and what he was extremely talented in; was the Shell Fishing Industry. Joe was a Narragansett Shell Fisherman for 46 years, starting at 10 years old working alongside his father Johnny Marques. Joe was very popular in the fishing industry, and everyone knew him as “Joe Hog”. Among other things, Joe loved golfing, motorcycles, fast boats, fast cars, good music, Nascar, and a good prime rib. He was a wonderful companion, a good friend, and a great person. He had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. Whitty, fun, likable, he was the best person you could want to know. When you met Joe, you felt like you’ve known him forever.

Joseph also leaves behind his cousins Courtney Forst, Christopher Forst, Mason Forst, Christopher Forst, Olivia Forst, Trinity Abeyllez, Matthew Abeyllez , Hailey Abeyllez, Abel Fernandes, Tony Fernandes, and many many good friends.
